On Thursday and Friday I spent two very beautiful sunny San Diego days at the home of photographer Noa Azoulay-Sclater with 19 other talented women soaking up massive quantities of inspiration.
I’ve been wanting to share my experience with you for days now, but I can’t seem to find the right words to express how amazing it was. So…. I’m just going to free write a little until this post feels complete.
Noa is absolutely amazing! She is a successful creative photographer, a full on artist, making a living shooting couples, weddings, editorials, etc. She forged her own path and created her own unique style that reminds me of the retro album covers of the ’60s and ’70s with a contemporary twist. She doesn’t adhere to industry standards and actually makes a point NOT to get involved in exclusive wedding photography cliques. Her outlook on the business of photography is refreshing. There is no special formula to becoming successful overnight and she doesn’t claim to have all the answers but what she does do is share her unique experience.
I came away from the workshop with one phrase ringing through my head – “Just do it.”
No, I’m not a huge fan of Nike, but their slogan seems to have found a way into my world and it’s about time I embrace it.
It can be argued, that we only have one life on this world. Just one.
For too long I have let fear hold me back from my dreams and desires and after two days connecting with a group of amazing, brave, talented artists I’ve decided it’s about time I leap forward and grasp for the things I want in my life.
Love. Success. Passion. Art. Travel. Freedom.
I will no longer settle for a comfortable but unfulfilled life. I long for adventure and happiness, even if it means a few missed meals and no new clothes for a year. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
I will be back again with more on the Feather Love workshop, but for now I’ll leave you with this:
“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” -Oscar Wild
I plan on living.
