As a boudoir photographer, I have a hard time finding the right words…
How can I help women understand that they are beautiful, just the way they are?
Are there words strong enough to penetrate generations of perfectionism and social conditioning?
Every single woman I’ve talked to about boudoir photography has been afraid they’re not good enough, but let me tell you a little secret… they always are. Sometimes words aren’t enough, but photographs are proof they can hold in their hands. And that’s when I say “This is you, this is how beautiful you are”.
So, indulge me for a moment and stop thinking about what is “wrong” about yourself or what you’d like to change.
Take some time to think about what you really love.
Is it your eyes, your lips, your hips, your hands? Your charisma? Your strength? Your vulnerability?
Why do you love those parts of yourself?
I’ll go first…
- I love my hair. Its unique, eye catching, and fun to play with. After years of being teased by my peers and adored by blue haired ladies with perms, I’ve learned that it’s special. My hair sets me apart from the crowd and has made me a stronger person.
- I love my eyes. They hold secrets and can see beauty in the smallest details.
- I love my bum. No big fancy reason why, I just appreciate my curves where I have them.
Now it’s your turn.
What do you love most about yourself? Why?
I know it can be difficult, but I’d love to see your answers in the comments.
