I’d like to introduce you to Cassandra. You might recognize her from this Engagement Story and she’s been around quite a lot behind the scenes. She helped work my booth at this year’s Unmentionable Lingerie Fashion Show, she does hair and makeup for all my boudoir clients, and even tags along on a few shoots to help with styling and touch-ups. She’s kind of amazing and SO much fun to have on my team.
After her engagement session we sat down in a bar with a couple hot toddys and started brainstorming about her boudoir session. We chose to do her session outdoors even though we were still in the middle of winter weather. Since it was so chilly we found a great little hot spring about three hours south of Portland and developed her story as a solo female adventure out to check in and ground out with nature. We packed more than a few cameras, a bag full of Pacific Northwest appropriate clothing, and added in a few snacks and a bottle of champagne for good measure.
When we got to the hot spring there were a few eccentric locals enjoying the waters but luckily a couple of the lower pools were still open and free of people. One little old naked man came and chatted with us for a bit too long in the changing hut before joining his buddies in the highest pool and I’m sure more than a few of them enjoyed the show as Casandra and I proceeded with our shoot. As the day progressed more and more people came out to enjoy the springs but this didn’t phase Cassandra one bit (she’s a brave one!). We drank some champagne out of old coffee cups, slipped on a few rocks, drew more than a few stares, watched the sun go down over the mountains, then set out for the long drive home. It was a beautiful day, full of awkward moments and interesting people. It was perfect.
