My Netflix Habit

For years I would complain about how watching TV was a waste of time, a life sucker that turns people into show dependent zombies. While I still agree with this for the most part I’ve been doing a lot of Netflixing these days.

It’s how I unwind after a long day of work, wether I’ve been out shooting, meeting with clients, sitting at my desk for 12 hours, or putting in some time at the print shop. When I’m done I like to head to my couch and turn on the big black box until it’s time for bed and a good book.

It’s a glamorous life I lead!

So here are some of my fave shows I’ve been indulging in these last couple months:

Atelier | This Japanese lingerie fashion drama feels like a real life anime at times. Both Andrew and I love this show and are having a hard time not binge watching it all in one night. The cultural differences are fun to observe and I’m obviously a big fan on the shows focus on creativity and small business marketing.

Star Trek The Next Generation | Dork alert! But really, I love this show. Sure the special effects are pretty damn special but in the end the writers do a pretty good job. My stepdad loved this show and I remember sitting with him watching episodes here and there, exclaiming “OooOOOoOooo” after every pre-credit scene. This one takes me back to my childhood and it’s fun to see it again from a new perspective.

Vampire Diaries | Guilty pleasure, plain and simple. Andrew will not watch this one with me and I’m ok with that. The show, while entertaining, isn’t all that great. At this point (season 6) it’s pretty predictable and they’re even recreating old storylines.  Still, there’s some good eye candy in there. 😉

The X- Files | Another childhood favorite. I like to throw this one on when I’m home alone and cooking dinner. It instantly makes my apartment cozier. Even though I watched a LOT of this show as a kid, I don’t really remember the individual episodes very well so I’m enjoying them all over again. Can’t wait for the X-Files revival!!!

Jessica Jones | This dark superhero show doesn’t really feel like a superhero show and I love it! I seriously obsessed over this one and watched the whole thing in about 3 days. I like strong female characters. I like dark dramas. I love sexy male counterparts. Season two can’t come soon enough!

Call The Midwife | I should mention that this is one of my all- time favorite TV shows, ever. It’s set in England in the 60’s and there’s plenty of bad ass women to fall in love with. This show makes me cry and smile at the same time. I pretty much only watch this one when I’m alone since I don’t like crying in front of people but Andrew has caught one or two episodes and doesn’t seem to mind it too much. Definitely a must watch!

So now that I’ve exposed my dirty little Netflix habit I’d LOVE to hear all about yours. What are your favorite shows right now? What do I need to put on my must watch list ASAP?

Wayne Smith - Someone else who has watched Atelier! Ugh… I loved that show. It left me feeling so motivated. The way creative business is discussed is so interesting, something I haven’t seen a fictional show before.ReplyCancel

Stine - You could also try The Bletchley Circle, it has four fabulous female leads! The two seasons are only three and four episodes long respectivly.ReplyCancel
