Shannon & Milan | A Golden California Maternity Session

Their California Maternity Session

Last year in the height of the pandemic we hopped on a Zoom call with Shannon and Milan, our dear friends from our college town, Chico, CA. We thought this call was your typical touch base with good friends type of thing until they told us the news, they were expecting a baby in October 2020! ???? We were floored and absolutely elated for them.

So, in the midst of the pandemic, we hopped in our car and made the long drive down to Chico for Shannon & Milan’s California maternity session. Andrew and I loaded up on hand sanitizer, packed a glovebox full of masks, and made as few pitstops as possible. There was no way we were going to miss this moment.

So here you go! A few super special photographs of two very special people and their baby bump. This summer I’ll be visiting again for loads of hugs (yay vaccines!) and portraits of their sweet little girl, Mishka.

COVID Safety

While none of us want to miss documenting these big life moments, it’s important to do it in a safe way. During this session we kept our distance, a minimum of 6 feet, wore masks, and suppressed our strong desire to hug these two very special people.

Now that vaccinations are more wide-spread it’s even easier to gather for portrait sessions. We follow CDC guidelines and touch base with our clients to make sure we proceed in a way that makes them feel as safe as possible.

Wanna photograph your baby bump? We are so down! Contact us here and we’ll schedule a time to chat.

general inquiries

The world feels heavy right now. More than ever, we need healing, softness, and moments of peace. We need to hold close the small joys, celebrate the ones we love, and find solace in the beauty around us.

Lately, I’ve been grounding myself in the simple things—listening to birdsong in the morning, slowing down to be present with my fur babies (especially as we welcome a new puppy), and finding deeper meaning in my work. Because photography, at its heart, is about preserving love, stillness, and joyful abandon—even when the world makes it hard to feel those things.

Where are you finding peace these days? I’d love to hear. ❤️
