A Sou’Wester Lodge Wedding Guide

If you’re dreaming of an intimate, artistic, and outdoorsy wedding on the Washington coast, A Sou’Wester Lodge wedding in Sea View is a truly magical event. This venue holds a special place in my heart because my husband and I got married here in 2016. The vintage charm and retro travel trailers create a unique backdrop for your wedding. Its beachside location adds to the magic.

Is A Sou’Wester Lodge Wedding Right for You?

The Sou’Wester is perfect for couples who love creativity, nostalgia, and a laid-back, intimate atmosphere. If you’re drawn to the charm of vintage trailers, the sound of the ocean nearby, and the idea of a wedding that feels more like a cozy weekend retreat, this venue is a great fit.

It’s ideal for adventurous, artsy, or nature-loving couples looking for a unique and personal wedding experience. Enjoy a relaxed celebration without the constraints of a traditional ballroom venue. Whether it’s a small wedding, elopement, or a weekend celebration, The Sou’Wester offers a truly special setting.

Wedding Spaces & Accommodations

The venue can host intimate ceremonies in several locations, including the historic lodge, the signature green space between the trailers, or an open-air setting under the trees. The on-site vintage trailers, cabins, and campsites provide a one-of-a-kind lodging experience for couples and guests.

The Sou’Wester is a DIY-friendly venue, allowing couples to bring in their own vendors and personalize the space to fit their vision. Keep in mind that there may be noise restrictions and seasonal availability, so early planning is recommended.

If a fully DIY wedding sounds intimidating I recommend hiring a wedding planner to help you with the logistics. Sadie at Vareus Events (based in Portland, OR) is both a wedding planner and florist – she might just be the perfect person to ease the stress of wedding planning.

Food & Catering at The Sou’Wester

The Sou’Wester embraces a DIY approach, meaning couples have the flexibility to choose their own catering options. While the venue doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, there are plenty of local options nearby, from casual food trucks to farm-to-table dining. Couples can bring in a private caterer, set up a food truck, or even host a cozy family-style meal using the venue’s communal kitchen spaces. For a relaxed and intimate vibe, many couples opt for a picnic-style reception, beachside bonfire with s’mores, or a catered meal inside the pavillion.

One of our favorite food vendors in the area is the victorian Shelburne Hotel & Pub just down the street. They make my absolute favorite plate of fish and chips and their cocktails are amazing. For an intimate event, it would be the perfect place to visit for your wedding meal. For larger events I’d recommend coming here for your rehearsal dinner with a few close friends and family.

Lodging & Amenities

One of the most unique aspects of The Sou’Wester is its variety of accommodations. Guests can stay in restored vintage travel trailers, rustic cabins, or lodge suites, all designed to provide a cozy and nostalgic experience. For those who love the outdoors, there are also RV and tent camping options.

The Sou’Wester can accommodate 70-120 guests and host weddings of up to 250 guests.

The venue offers a sauna, art studios, and on-site wellness activities, making it an ideal retreat for couples and their loved ones. With a focus on relaxation and creativity, it’s the perfect place to extend your wedding celebration into a full weekend getaway.

How to Get Your Marriage License

To get legally married in Sea View, WA, couples must obtain a Washington state marriage license. You can apply at any Washington county auditor’s office, such as the Pacific County Auditor’s Office. There is a three-day waiting period, and the license is valid for 60 days. Both parties must be present, and the fee varies by county.

The world feels heavy right now. More than ever, we need healing, softness, and moments of peace. We need to hold close the small joys, celebrate the ones we love, and find solace in the beauty around us.

Lately, I’ve been grounding myself in the simple things—listening to birdsong in the morning, slowing down to be present with my fur babies (especially as we welcome a new puppy), and finding deeper meaning in my work. Because photography, at its heart, is about preserving love, stillness, and joyful abandon—even when the world makes it hard to feel those things.

Where are you finding peace these days? I’d love to hear. ❤️
