This was my first wedding with two grooms. Wow… what a special thing! I feel so happy to be able to document weddings like these; weddings full of love and joy and incredible people. With all the crazy stuff going on in our political world right now, the one thing I can really truly be happy about is the legality of same sex marriage.
Ken and Brian had a very intimate wedding in North Portland. They each got ready with their individual families, everyone coming together at their new home for family portraits and charcuterie.
After a little down time with their cute pup we all made our way to the venue, Elder Hall, for portraits and Ken & Brian’s wedding celebration. The ceremony was very intimate and full of heart, leaving the audience teary-eyed and smiling. Damn it feels good to celebrate love!
After the ceremony we went into the garden behind Elder Hall for portraits and a little quiet time for the two grooms. When we got back to the party the guests were mingling outside, drinking cocktails and telling stories, and Elder Hall glowed with warm light and greeted us with the appetizing smells of a warm meal.
It was a perfect day for a wedding – a perfect day to celebrate life – and a perfect day for love in all it’s forms.
I photographed this wedding with my friend Anna for our good friend Kelly of June Lion. It was a blast and I can’t wait for us all to work together again!
